I undertake a full range of assessment, consultation and advice services with children and young people in the 0 - 25 age range.

Assessments of learning, identifying difficulties and potential for change.  Identification of specific learning difficulties.  Advice to parents and staff to accelerate a child’s progress.

Social, emotional and behavioural development

 

Working with pupils to identify their hopes and views (particularly when they are reluctant to engage with professionals).  Assessment of social, emotional and behavioural difficulties and development of support plans.  Supporting parents and teachers in identifying social and environmental factors that may be causing difficulties with behaviour and learning.

Therapeutic support

Undertaken with a child or young person to support their social and emotional development.  I use a variety of therapeutic approaches drawn from cognitive behavioural models,  motivational interviewing, solution focused therapy, therapeutic stories and restorative models.  I use creative visual approaches such as miniatures, picture cards and drawings.  I offer therapeutic group work with pupils in schools, covering areas such as friendship skills, emotional regulation, exam anxiety, over to you (taking responsibility), social skills, assertiveness skills, therapeutic story writing
